Oh Mondays...your'e killin' me! BUT...I did better than last Monday so it was a success.
I started my day with a carrot muffin for breakfast...that seemed to work for me today. I have been trying some toast or bagel but this was good today. Something in my stomach before I ran. Not a big breakfast eater first thing in the morning so this has been a challenge for me.
My first mile was a struggle and a little slower. My first mile it seems like my legs are made of concrete...so heavy. Once I get through my first mile I seem to loosen up a bit. I just must remember this and remember it gets better. I wish I could just fast forward to mile two just to get that first mile done and out of my system. I guess I should try to get in mile runs a couple times a week. I must try to make that a priority.
Mile two was not bad. Sunny and hot, so I knew I would be hitting some major shaded areas at the beginning of mile 3. So I planned on taking advantage of that time.
End of mile two and very beginning of mile 3 I hit the long shaded area. I took advantage and went slower during that area. I didn't walk or take baby steps just slowed my pace down. I took advantage of the shade later in mile 3 too. Hit the end of mile three and I wasn't at my cool down spot yet so I pushed it to the shaded area of the cool down area. Pushed it a little further if only by 1/10 of a mile.
End of mile three made me smile...Michael Buble song "You're my Everything" came on and it made my time go by faster thinking of Joe P. singing it. That song and memory always makes me smile.

Lesson #6...take a sweat band or rag with me EVERY TIME until the temperatures are consistently below 60. I really had a hard time keeping the sweat out of my eyes today.
