Today was the first day Joe and I did yoga. Boy, it may look easy but it isn't! We loved it though...it was a great way to really stretch before a run...it felt good, but I think I am going to feel it tomorrow.

It was colder today temperature of 19 and windchill 7. Once I started going it wasn't too bad. I had 3 layers on top and 2 pairs of pants. At first I thought my face was going to get too cold but it got better...and of course by the time I was finished I was sweating. I am glad I wore gloves even though my hands were sweaty in the end. I would rather have that than be too cold.

I was a little sore today and tried to take it easy...it could have been from my 10 mile run on Sunday. I have to remember I don't have to push it after a long run. Something is better than nothing.

I signed up for a New Year's Day 5K. Not sure how the weather is going to be, I figured it is fitting to start the new year with an organized run.

Week 26! Wow where has the time gone? I am so glad I started my training ahead of schedule I have had a few long run set-backs so the extra weeks have helped.

Up until today I had not completed more than 9.5 miles. Today I ran 10+ miles AND I ran most of it with only a few walking intervals. I am really proud of my accomplishment! 6 months ago this seemed like a next to impossible task now I can check it off. People have told me that if you can do 10 miles then 13.1 is do-able.

Kelly is out of town so I needed to find another runner to go with me otherwise I would probably have only gone 5-7 miles and I REALLY wanted to get 10 miles checked off. I went to the W.O.W Facebook group and posted a request. April Wenzel got back to me saying she was interested. I knew she is a much more advanced runner so I was afraid I would hold her back. I think I did a little but she was really encouraging and when I needed to walk she didn't have a problem with it. I would push myself a little more in between walks.

The las mile was a difficult one but I did it...I really wanted to walk but I kept pushing through it and I am glad I didn't quit. I was much slower the last mile or so it seemed but my time didn't reflect it really.

After the run April helped me with some stretches...I really NEED to stretch after my runs, I am not being very diligent and I don't want to get an injury.

Took advantage of another mild day and went for a walk/run with Joe. Like before he would walk and I would run ahead turn around and run back to him. I would usually walk for about a minute with him and then do it all over again. I was able to get in 3 miles while he clocked in 2. I would like to do that as long as the weather permits.

I am hoping that it helps with speed training. Though the times do not reflect it I am running faster on the shorter distances and back to Joe then recovering while I walk with him. Not sure if it helps much but I know it it not hurting because I am OUT and MOVING!

A little off track but still running

Tis the Season...so I am not running my regular schedule, it is toooooo easy to get off of it, but I am still getting in some sort of run. I do find that even through I am off schedule I do not want to miss a day. Saturday, I went for a run/walk with Joe, we would walk together and then I would run ahead, turn around and run back and meet him. I was able to get in 3 miles that way. Monday, I was scheduled for a long run but is rained ALL day...cold and rain is not for me around the holidays. I ended up running on the treadmill for 2 miles.

Today I did get out and run...it was a gorgeous 41 degree day, so running was perfect weather. I was originally going to go about 3 miles but ended up going a little over 5. I am glad I pushed it today, the only problem is that I didn't have water with me.

I went to Cherry Tree and instead of going straight for the 5 mile loop I turned and went along Rt. 8. I didn't realize that there were sidewalks all the way to the Estates subdivision. I ran through that area where the tornado hit hard. It looked like about 1/3 of the homes are re-built and have families living in them. I didn't go on the side streets of the area so not really certain.

I really need to get on a long run soon. If I get back on my Princess training schedule it looks like this Saturday I should do 9.5. I will need to find someone to run with since Kelly will be out of town. I may have to put something out on one of my FB groups.

My weight is down a little more and my clothes are fitting much better! Happy with the results, that really does help keep me motivated too!

After a treadmill run on Tuesday I was back outside today...and as I had said before. It's not the running outside that is the hard part, it's actually easy, but it is the mindset to go outside that is difficult. It was overcast, no wind and 26 degrees...a great day to go out and run. I was able to get 5 miles in today...and after it is all said and done...it feels good.

I went slow and steady to start and was able to regulate my breathing from the start, that is such a huge part of a good run. I have found out that if I don't get my breathing down early it is hard to get regulated into the run. I have to be conscience about that.

I found myself hovering at 4.6 miles at the 56 minute mark so I kicked it up so I could complete 5 miles in under an hour. I succeeded...and luckily it was just about at my cool down corner. Task accomplished!

Today 12-13-14 it was actually mild out today so I took advantage. I wanted to get between 8-10 miles in for my long run this weekend. I have decided to break it up into 2 days and take advantage of the nice weather. It was in the mid 40's and a great day to run so I was able to get a little over 6 miles in today.

I took a totally different direction today during 3-5 mile segment. I went farther east in town so I would not have a point of easy return...it worked! I did notice that at 56 minutes into my run I was at 4.7 miles so I kicked it up a notch so I can say I did 5 miles in under 60 minutes. I did it! 59:21 I think was the time I hit 5 miles. I really just wanted to start my cool down walk and go home but I pushed myself to go through the park and have my quiet time to myself. I am glad I did. I ran through the park and started my cool down at mom and dad's house. That route gave me a about 6.4 miles when I reached home.

I noticed that my right knee was hurting into my second mile it went away but is sore to the touch. I will need to ask someone about that and what to do for it.

I have "completed" the training calendar but not the entire training mileage for the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon schedule. I am overall happy with my progress and really happy with the way I feel and getting into shape. I have had several compliments from people that I have not seen in a few months and      even had someone say I looked so much thinner now. Not a lot of pounds have come off but I know the inches have come off.  Maybe 10-12 pounds so far but I am happy with that.

WOW...week 15 is in the books!

I was dragging myself out this morning and once I got going I was fine. I knew that that would be the case that once I got going I was going to feel better it was just getting started...again Mind over Matter!

Since I was dragging myself out I took it slow and easy today and that was so much better. My breathing was much more regulated...I need to remember that.  I even stopped to talk to a few people today...maybe only a minute each time but it was nice.

I ended up going 3.6 miles at a leisurely pace. Took my trip through the park at the end and enjoyed my time with my prayers...the trip in the park today wasn't long enough. :-)

Glad I was able to drag myself out...I feel much better now.
