Today I wanted to take just a quick run to try to get back into the swing of things...and to stop and see my adorable little great niece! So I started the route I took a lot in the summer but had not taken in a while...through one of the tornado stricken area (one of many). I can't believe the progress it has made. So many homes that are completed or almost completed. Incredible the progress that has been made in a few short months.
We are coming up on the year anniversary of the tornado...and I never would have imagined that so many homes and families that were displaced would be back in their homes already or almost back in them. However, my run starts on the edge of the devastation and one house that has been boarded up and not touched for 51 weeks has finally been demolished and will start the re-building process and then across the street houses are moving right along. Along way to go...but it was good to see such progress and hope that these displaced families will be in their homes sooner than later.
It was a good run today...cooler 39 degrees when I left. I wasn't sure how to dress. Long running pants and a long sleeved shirt were fine. I did take gloves and a headband and I found myself sweating with those on. I just didn't know how windy it would be. I have to get geared up for a longer run on Sunday. Not sure how far I will go. I think I am due for 10 miles! I will check with Kelly and see if she is up to it.
