OK listen to me... 5 miles and I struggled...just a few months ago I was on cloud 9 when I did a walk/ run of 5-6 miles. This run I ran 5 miles with a couple of short walk intervals (maybe a total of 3 minutes walking) to get me through. I didn't run the entire time but in the whole scheme of things I did OK in the run. I guess I am used to being able to run 5 miles without stopping and I just didn't do it this time.
I originally was only going out for a 3 mile run but decided to go a little more once I was out. Whenever I had a chance to take a short route home or a longer route I chose the longer route. I was determined to get 5 miles in before Mom and Dad's house...I had to run around a parking lot a few times but right in front of their house I hit 5 miles. My times were fine my legs were just heavy. I think it was the afternoon run after lunch that contributed to that.
The weather was too nice not to go out and run so even though I had run 3 miles on the treadmill the day before I wanted to get outside for a run. It was worth it! According to training I should be winding down from long runs and just run 3-4 miles or 30 minute runs.
The PHM FB page is blowing up with excitement and rightfully so...especially for all the first timers like myself and Karen.
